K.FURTADO WINES  Depending on your pursuasion, the founding of our winery was either less or more romantic than one might imagine. You see, there are times in life that call for drastic measures. And pursuing your dreams at all costs is one of those times.

In August of 2006, Kevin Furtado — known as a sommelier overseeing two of the largest restaurant wine collections in Vail, CO — packed up his VW and drove over 14 hours to spend three months in Santa Barbara County, literally camping out in the vineyards. With dirt embedded under his fingernails and permanent grape stains on his clothes, Kevin apprenticed with famed winemaker Seth Kunin. Two harvests, three imported French barrels, 7,840 road miles and one business partner later, K.Furtado Wines was born.
